Working with veteran actor Anant Nag is something that most people in Sandalwood look forward to and Diganth has got that opportunity yet again. While the duo has collaborated on Yogaraj Bhat’s Gaalipata and Gaalipata 2, this time around they will have a more intimate connection, when they play grandfather and grandson in Thimmayya & Thimmayya, which goes on floors tomorrow.
The film will be the directorial launch pad of ad maker Sanjay Sharma, and follows the relationship dynamic of the actor duo, as members of an affluent, Madikeri-based family. The film is slated to be shot in locations across Bengaluru, Mysuru and, of course, Madikeri.
Thimmayya & Thimmayya will also reunite Diganth with his wife and actor Aindrita Ray yet again. While they have done films like Manasaare and Parijatha, Diganth and Aindrita collaborated on the upcoming Kshamisi Nimma Katheyalli Hannavilla and Thimmayya & Thimmayya will be the latest.
In an earlier interaction with us, Anant had spoken about his choices of roles. “Honestly, the way the pandemic has been, I thought I was going into retirement. I used the break from work to figure out what I want to do next. I am looking at taking up only those roles that offer me something new to do. There have been good offers from Telugu and even Hindi films, but I decided to take up Kannada projects instead, because they seemed promising as far as content is concerned. Right now, I have a few new projects, which will start in the coming months. I may consider work in other languages after that. A lot of newcomers have great ideas that can be executed well, on a much smaller scale than a film with a star. Most of my upcoming films belong to that category. They also have the option of taking the film only to multiplexes or OTT platforms,” he had said, before taking off to Udupi to work on debutant director Shishir’s magic tale, Abracadabra in early September.
