Ananya Panday on her biggest takeaway from Gehraiyaan: Don’t be judgmental about relationships

Through his recent film Gehraiyaan, director Shakun Batra chose to highlight some hard-hitting and nuanced themes rarely explored in Bollywood. Couple that with some incredible performances by its lead cast, and it's no wonder that the film has received such a massive reaction from viewers. And it seems the film also imparted valuable lessons to its stars too. Ananya Panday recently opened up about what she learned from essaying the role of Tia in the film.

In conversation with Elle, the actress opened up about the things she found most important in a relationship, saying that she considered herself a very loyal person. Panday talked about the significance of trust and communication, and honesty in relationships. Although she considered infidelity to be wrong, Panday said that Gehraiyaan taught her to be judgmental when it came to relationships. People should not judge when it comes to relationships and situations they don’t know about.

The actress also talked about how most of the characters she played were very different from who she is as a person. She said that through acting, she was able to discover new things about herself, as well as change some existing parts of her too. Through her roles, the actress also wanted to keep on learning and growing, and said she wants to put herself into uncomfortable situations as an actor, to do so. “I can learn and grow from there,” she added.

In addition to Panday, the film also stars Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa. Karan Johar served as a producer on the film.
