Balakrishna to kickstart NTR’s centenary year celebrations in Nimmakuru

A small government clerk with a burning desire to make a mark in films went onto change the industry he was a part of. The graduate who had only little experience of acting, owing to his tryst with amateur theatre, came to Madras to try his luck in films and never had to look back later. This government official-turned-actor went onto be the biggest stars of Telugu cinema and a three time CM too. Yes, if you didn’t guess it by now, we’re indeed talking about the one and only Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao a.k.a NTR.

NTR, had he been among us, would’ve turned 100 this year on May 28. Yet, he continues to reside forever in the hearts of most Telugu people across the globe. His centenary celebrations are set to kick off in great style in his home town, Nimmakuru, on his birth anniversary. None other than his son - actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna will be gracing the prestigious event in Andhra Pradesh.

Several cultural events are being planned for this grand occasion for the entire day in Nimmakuru. The same day, the actor-politician will also tour Guntur and Tenali for another series of celebrations in Andhra Pradesh. The organisers are pulling all the stops to celebrate the life of NTR in the presence of his diehard fans, leading actors and politicians. More details about the various events across the Telugu states commemorating NTR’s birth anniversary will be revealed shortly.

NTR’s sons, apart from Balakrishna, including Harikrishna and Mohana Krishna have made a mark in Telugu cinema. Some of NTR’s most iconic films in a career of over 300 films include Daana Veera Soora Karna, Malleeswari, Rakta Sambandham, Pathala Bhairavi, Adavi Ramudu, Maya Bazaar, Aggi Pidugu, to name a few. There’s not a genre he’s left untouched - historical, folklore, family dramas, commercial entertainers and mythology, he’s done it all.
