In an exciting moment for DC fans everywhere, Leslie Grace recently revealed a glimpse of Barbara Gordon’s superhero alter ego from her upcoming film, Batgirl. The photo, posted on the star’s official Instagram handle, reveals a costume that seems to draw inspiration from the character’s look in the DC comics.

The photograph shows Batgirl in a bluish black mask and superhero suit, which sports the iconic gold bat symbol in front. She is seen standing on a stone column and looking into the distance, and at her waist is the all too familiar utility belt of the hero. In a marked difference from the other recent live action renditions of the character, Grace’s Batgirl sports a yellow cape.

Grace joins the likes of Alicia Silverstone, Ruby Rose, Javicia Leslie, Yvonne Craig and Dina Meyer, who have essayed the live action version of the character on screen.

The DC film will also see Michael Keaton put on the cape once again as Batman. The star had famously played the superhero in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), both directed by Tim Burton. The star will also play the character in the upcoming film, The Flash, which stars Ezra Miller as the titular hero.

In Batgirl, J.K Simmons will essay the role of Gotham city police commissioner James Gordon, a character he had also portrayed in 2017’s Justice League. The upcoming film also features Brendan Fraser as the villain, Firefly. Other cast members include Jacob Scipio, Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai.

Batgirl is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a script written by Christina Hodson. The latter had also served as scriptwriter on Birds of Prey.

The upcoming film is slated for release sometime this year on the US platform HBO Max.
