Ben Affleck & Matt Damon film on Nike to release globally on THIS date

Old buddies and Hollywood superstars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to reunite on-screen with the former at the helm. Affleck will be directing and also starring in the biographical drama titled Air, a film centred on the early 'game-changing' days of the international sports brand Nike. Matt Damon will lead the cast along with Ben Affleck with the duo co-producing the venture under their latest initiative Artists Equity.

Air is also backed by Amazon Studios, Mandalay Pictures and Skydance Sports. The film is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video but will have a bona fide global theatrical release prior to that - Air is out in theatres on April 5th, 2023.

Amazon Studios will be handling the theatrical distribution of the film in North America with Warner Bros. International coming on board to take care of the international distribution. The exact date of the digital release of Air on Prime is yet to be divulged. 

Matt Damon will play John Paul Vincent "Sonny" Vaccaro, the hugely successful sports marketing agent who is best known for signing Michael Jordan to his first sneaker deal during his tenure with Nike, Inc. Affleck will play Nike's co-founder Phil Knight and the crux of the narrative is the landing of the Jordan deal in the mid-1980s which, in many ways, is regarded as a watershed moment in the history of sports endorsements. Nike was still a budding sports company at the time and signing someone of the stature of Michael Jordan, which was considered impossible, was eventually achieved through Sonny Vaccaro. 

Air also stars Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, Matthew Maher, and others. Academy Award winners Robert Richardson and William Goldenberg have handled cinematography and editing, respectively.
