The latest trailer of Mani Ratnam’s Netflix anthology Navarasa might have featured some hugely popular faces such as Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Siddharth, Arvind Swami and Prasanna, but it’s another actor whose portions were eagerly awaited by many in Kerala – that of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3 finalist Manikuttan.
While the upcoming anthology features a host of Malayalam actors including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nedumudi Venu, Remya Nambeesan and Poorna, Manikuttan’s supporters were the most thrilled when the team released the trailer of the Netflix anthology on Monday.
A few weeks ago, when the teaser of Navarasa had dropped, Manikuttan's fans were disapoointed to not find the actor as part of it and began flooding the comment section with his initials, MK. After seeing him featured in the trailer, they have been sharing the video and praising his portions, even though it's just three shots.
The trailer revealed Manikuttan in a retro avatar complete with the sideburns et al. The actor features in director Priyadarshan’s segment titled Summer of 92, which focuses on the emotion of hasya and also has Nedumudi Venu, Remya Nambeesan and Yogi Babu as part of the cast.
When OTTplay reached out to Manikuttan for his comment on the role, the actor told us that he was under contract by Bigg Boss till August 1 and will not be able to give out any interviews.
Manikuttan is one of the finalists of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3, the final of which is expected to air soon. The actor is also part of Mohanlal’s directorial debut, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham.
Meanwhile, Navarasa, which features segments from nine directors including Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthick Naren, Bejoy Nambiar and Karthik Subbaraj, is scheduled to release on Netflix on August 6. Proceeds from the film will be handed over the film fraternity of Tamil cinema who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
