Malayalam star Mammootty’s One released on Netflix earlier in 2021. The film became an instant hit among the viewers.
Now, producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the rights to remake the film in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. He is especially expected to begin work on the Hindi remake of the film soon.
According to a report on Times of India, a big star is already in talks for the Hindi remake of the film. The film is expected to go on floors in early 2022.
Interestingly, the news of its release came out at almost the same time as when the OTT platform aha announced that they would release the film in Telugu. One will be released on the platform on July 17.
In One, Mammootty played the role of Kerala’s CM who wishes to eliminate the corrupt ministers. The film, directed by Santhosh Vishwanath, also starred Murali Gopy, Joju George, Mathew Thomas, Siddique, Ishaani Krishna, Nimisha Sajayan and Gayatri Arun in pivotal roles.
This is not the first time that Boney has remade a film. Previously, the producer acquired the rights to Shoojit Sircar’s Pink, starring Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles.
The film was remade as Vakeel Saab in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan. It was also remade as Valimai in Tamil. The Tamil version stars Ajith Kumar in the lead role.
Boney is also expected to remake Ayushmann Khurrana’s Article 15 in Tamil. Currently though, he is busy with wrapping up Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan.
