Buzz: After Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Kartik Aaryan to take over Akshay Kumar’s Housefull franchise?

Kartik Aaryan has been at the centre of Bollywood spotlights recently, following the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which is the sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2007 classic, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Now, claims suggest that Aaryan is primed to take over Kumar’s Housefull franchise next. 

Kamal R Khan, the film critic who is never far from controversy, has made the claim that Aaryan will next take over the Housefull franchise. In a tweet, he said that he confirms that Kartik Aaryan will next do Housefull 5. KRK, as he is known, also added that this is how Akshay Kumar’s end begins. 

Provided that there is no official confirmation from anyone involved, this tweet from Kamal R Khan looks to be a dig at Akshay Kumar for now. Kumar has been the only constant in the four instalments in the Housefull franchise. 

Kumar headlined Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, which was directed by Priyadarshan. The movie was the Hindi remake of the blockbuster Malayalam movie, Manichitrathazhu. The psychological horror comedy became a hit with the fans following its release and went on to become a cult classic. 

Kartik Aaryan’s sequel has also received positive reviews following its release. Also starring Kiara Advani, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav, the sequel is directed by Anees Bazmee. The movie has also become a box office hit, having already gone past the Rs. 100 crore mark, at a time when Bollywood movies are failing to make a mark at the box office. 

Aaryan will next be seen in Shehzada, which is the official Hindi remake of Allu Arjun’s Telugu hit, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. 

Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, was last seen in Bachchan Pandey, which failed to impress the fans. The actor is now awaiting the release of the historical war drama Samrat Prithviraj. Based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, the movie will hit theatres on June 3.
