Alia Bhatt will soon grace the big screen, three years after the release of Gully Boy, with the biographical crime drama Gangubai Kathiawadi. According to the entertainment website Bollywood Life, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film with a U/A certificate and four minor cuts.
The report adds that the runtime has been reduced by a minute or two. The deletion of two scenes has been ordered along with the modification of a few dialogues. A scene featuring Jawaharlal Nehru fixing a rose into Gangubai's hair has been altered.
Gangubai Kathiawadi is adapted from a chapter of journalist-writer Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the director of the film that also stars Seema Pahwa, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz and Indira Tiwari. Ajay Devgn and Huma Qureshi will feature in cameo appearances.
Today, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi released a garba-inspired song 'Dholida' which has 2 lakh views on YouTube. Bhansali has composed the song that is written by Kumaar.
