Amazon Prime Video has announced the digital premiere of Creed 3. Starring Michael B. Jordan in the lead, the movie will become available for streaming on June 9. The movie was released earlier this year in cinemas amid a lot of controversy. Fans of the franchise were upset with the absence of Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone.
Sylvester Stallone launched himself to global stardom with Rocky (1976) and continued to lead the franchise till Rocky Balboa (2006). Following this, the baton of the beloved franchise was passed down to Michael B. Jordan with Creed in 2015. And Sylvester became an integral part of the spin-off till Creed 2.
However, Sylvester and the producers of the franchise had a fallout. And it turned ugly with Sylvester publically lashing out at the producers. Creed 3 was released under the shadow of this controversy. But, that didn't stop the movie from becoming a hit.
According to reports, Creed 3 global box office stands at $275 million.
In this latest instalment, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) finds success in both his career and personal life, having become a dominant force in the boxing world. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when his childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), reemerges after serving a lengthy prison sentence, seeking his chance at redemption in the ring. The clash between these former friends goes beyond a mere fight, as Adonis puts everything on the line to battle Damian, a fighter with nothing to lose.
Creed 3 not only marks the continuation of the popular franchise but also serves as Jordan's directorial debut. The film boasts a stellar cast including Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Mila Davis-Kent, Florian Munteanu, and Phylicia Rashad. The screenplay was penned by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin, based on a story by Ryan Coogler and Keenan Coogler and Baylin.
