Despite the early setback and a few people calling for its boycott on social media, Alia Bhatt’s Darlings has struck a chord with the fans. The movie, which was released on Netflix, has now crossed 10 million viewing hours in just three days.

The black comedy drama has been trending in the top 10 list in Netflix in 16 countries across the Americas, Africa and Asia. Darlings has also made a fantastic opening on the streaming platform, getting the highest opening for a non-English original Indian film with more than 10 million viewing hours as reported by The Indian Express.

Talking about the success of the movie, Alia said in a statement that she is “overjoyed by the overwhelmingly good response” Darlings has received. She also added that it is incredible to see that the movie has done well with the global audience and the fact that it is trending in 16 countries in the opening week. Darlings also marks Alia’s debut production under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions. The movie is also co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.

Apart from Alia in the lead, the movie also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in important roles. The movie tells the tale of a wife who is the victim of domestic abuse and how she decides to deal with it on her own terms.

“The fate of Darlings looks predictable, only with the last shot adding a shocking value to it. But not even once, there's a slight hint of boredom that strikes while watching the film,” read the movie’s review on OTTplay.

The movie, which is directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, is now available to stream on Netflix.
