Alia Bhatt’s Darlings released on Netflix earlier last week and the movie has received largely positive reviews from the fans. Actor Vijay Varma also plays an important role in the movie, playing Alia’s drunk and abusive husband. The actor has now revealed that his mother is worried that her son will not be able to find love following the movie’s release.

“I am getting all kinds of reactions after the release of Darlings; some are saying we hate Hamza, some are praising my performing skills…but the funniest has been my mom. She watched the film and called me in panic. She was worried that no one would marry her son now (laughs),” he said as reported by Mid Day.

The actor also added that he understood why she would have thought so but he just had a good laugh after hearing it. He also said that he tried to calm her down and reassure her that this will not be the case.

Darlings has Vijay play a character with a dark shade, as he can be seen physically abusing his on-screen wife Alia Bhatt, before she decides to take things into her own hand.

“The Alia Bhatt-starrer film soars high on intent, but the performances show that the scope could have been slightly better. Nonetheless, I will give it to their first attempt knowing that Alia, despite becoming a superstar, paved the way for the fantastic supporting cast and made them shine as well,” read the movie’s review on OTTplay.

Also starring Shefali Shah and Roshan Mathew in important roles, the movie is directed by Jasmeet K. Reen. The movie is now available to stream on Netflix.
