The 67th National Awards ceremony held at Delhi on Monday brought laurels to Tamil film industry again. Superstar Rajinikanth unsurprisingly hogged the limelight after being conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. A host of celebs like Dhanush, Vetri Maaran, Vijay Sethupathi, Parthiban, Kalaippuli Thanu and Imman were also present at the event representing Kollywood.

Dhanush received the Best Actor for the second time for his performance in Asuran (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which was directed by Vetri Maaran. The former had won his first National Award for Aadukalam (streaming on MX Player and Jio Cinema) which had the latter at the helm. The director, too, received the honours amid cheer from the crowd.

Kalaippuli Thanu, the producer of Asuran, received the award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. Interestingly, his next movie will also have Vetri Maaran wielding the megaphone. Vijay Sethupathi, who was adjudged as the Best Supporting Actor for the portrayal of a helpless transgender in Thiagarajan Kumararaja's Super Deluxe (streaming on Netflix), was also spotted at the event.

Imman, who was chosen as the Best Music Director for the chartbuster songs in Viswasam (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), was another celebrity from the Tamil movie industry, who made his presence felt at the do.

Actor-filmmaker Radhakrishnan Parthiban's experimental film, Oththa Seruppu, in which he played the solo character, was chosen as the Special Jury Award. He had taken to Twitter to post a selfie of him along with Vijay Sethupathi from the event. Both the actors were recently seen in Tughlaq Durbar which had a premiere on Netflix in September.
