The film stars Samyuktha Menon as the female lead and features Tanikella Bharani, Sai Kumar in supporting roles

Sithara Entertainments, the producers of some of the biggest Telugu movies under production - including Pawan Kalyan's Bheemla Nayak, is collaborating with filmmaker Trivikram's banner Fortune Four Cinemas to produce a Tamil-Telugu bilingual starring Dhanush, to be directed by Tholi Prema, Rang De filmmaker Venky Atluri. Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya are bankrolling the prestigious film.
Dhanush, earlier this week, had confirmed that this would be his first direct Telugu film. The titles of the movie in both versions and the cast, crew of the project, were announced today. The Tamil version of the project has been titled Vaathi, while the film be referred to as SIR in Telugu. The posters of the film, in the backdrop of a blackboard filled with several numbers, mathemetical equations, besides a note stating 'classes start soon', were launched at 9.36 am today.
This was accompanied by a title announcement video that takes you through the film's ambience, including the college premises, the bell and a series of sepia-tinted photographs, highlighting that the film would be 'an ambitious journey of a common man'. Samyuktha Menon has been roped in as the leading lady for the same. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music for the bilingual, for which Dinesh Krishnan (known for films like Soodhu Kavvum, Sethupathi, Thegidi, Mr.Local, Maara) would be cranking the camera.
The regular shoot of Vaathi/SIR is slated to commence in January 2022. Sai Kumar and Tanikella Bharani also play key roles in this outing. Venky Atluri has also written the story for the same, while the other technicians part of the project include editor Navin Nooli, production designer Avinash Kolla. PDV Prasad is the presenter and S Venkatarathnam is the executive producer.
