Director Alphonse Puthren says he hopes to work with Vijay: I am waiting for his call

Alphonse Puthren laid his mark on the South Indian industry with his debut Neram followed by the blockbuster Premam. The director has now talked about working with Thalapathy Vijay.

The director took to Facebook to share the song Jolly O Gymkhana from Vijay’s upcoming film Beast, when a fan posted the question about when he would work with the superstar.

"Thalapathy was the first to call me from Tamil Nadu after Premam release, through his manager and producer Jagadeesh. I have met Thalapathy Vijay sir personally once. Hoping one day he will call me, to do a film. I'm waiting (sic)." he replied.

The director made his debut with Neram, a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual thriller with Nivin Pauly in the lead. While the film was received well, his second film, Premam became a blockbuster. Becoming one of the highest grossing films in Malayalam, the coming-of-age romantic comedy also had a dream run in Tamil Nadu.

Alphonse has two projects in the pipeline. He is currently in the post-production stages of Gold, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead. He will also begin the work for Paattu starring Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in April.

Vijay is currently awaiting the release of Beast, the highly-anticipated romantic action movie directed by Nelson. The movie also stars Pooja Hegde and Selvaraghavan.

The makers of Beast are busy with promotion work for the project, and released the first single ‘Arabic Kuththu’ last month. The song has become a sensation among fans and has over 200 million views on YouTube.

The second single from Beast titled Jolly O Gymkhana was released on Saturday and has clocked over 17 million views.
