Sashi Kiran Tikka, whose debut Goodachari was a smash hit, sustained his victorious streak with his sophomore project, Major, as well. The latter, a biopic of armyman Sandeep Unnikrishnan, starring Adivi Sesh, Sobhita Dhulipala and Saiee Manjrekar in the lead, enjoyed a fantastic theatrical run. The film, which started streaming on Netflix earlier this month, is doing well on OTT too.

Netflix stats confirm that both the Hindi and Telugu versions of Major stand are among the top 5 watched titles in India. That’s not all, the film is holding its ground among Netflix users in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh too. Not a day has gone by on social media in the last week where the team hasn’t received accolades from viewers and the fraternity alike.

Celebrating the film's humungous success, director Sashi Kiran Tikka organised a lavish party for the team of Major and a few other friends and celebrities. The list of invitees in the party included Prakash Raj, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Sri Charan Pakala, Abhijeet, Naga Vamsi, Abhishek Aggarwal, and others, to name a few. They were full of praise for Sashi Kiran Tikka, congratulating him on the film’s dream run.

It’s very rare for a filmmaker to not get carried by the success of their first film and remain as humble, hard-working for their second project too. This probably explains Major’s success better - he didn’t let Goodachari’s success go to his head. Major, cinematographed by Vamsi Patchipulusu, was jointly produced by GMB Entertainment, A+S Movies, and Sony Pictures.

While Major emerged a commercial success in the Telugu version, the Hindi version drew a lot of eyeballs and expanded Adivi Sesh’s market as an actor. Prakash Raj, Revathy and Murali Sharma too drew praise for their performances in the film and it also helped that Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s parents were in full approval of what team ‘Major’ had made.
