Ever since the team of Golden Star Ganesh’s next, Sakath, released the song Premakke Kannilla and followed that up with a teaser for his character Balu, expectations of this Suni directorial have skyrocketed. All throughout the making of the film, they had been very vocal about the fact that Ganesh was playing a visually-challenged character for the first time, as was leading lady, Nishvika Naidu.

But after the song, and then the teaser, dropped, it became clear that Ganesh’s Balu may not be visually-challenged after all and only pretending to be so for reasons that will become clear only when the film releases on November 12. In the teaser, Balu does and says stuff that has those around him wondering if he can see, only to have him explain his way out of the situation; like, for instance, when he presses the lift button, which does not have braille on it, with ease, and says that it he’s been doing it so long, it’s become habit. But the give-away comes towards the end, when Ganesh, as Balu, is shown watching movies that had visually-challenged protagonists, namely Shivarajkumar in Kavacha and Ayushmann Khurranna in Andhadhun. What we do know, as of now, is that Balu is an aspiring musician, who becomes a participant of a music reality show. It could be that the charade he pulls is to clock brownie points for his ‘supposed’ disability.

On Saturday, October 30, the team is looking at releasing yet another song; this time, the title track, sung by rapper Sid. Here’s hoping it will shed more light on what sakath maja Suni and Ganesh have in store for audiences.
