Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was one of the most-anticipated movie releases of the year. Directed by Sam Raimi, the sequel to Doctor Strange stars Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams in important roles.
The film has hit the theatres and has been receiving positive reviews, especially for the performances of the cast and visual effects. Actor Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in the sequel, recently stated that her character is not a role model.
While talking to ComicBook.com, the actor addressed that fans’ viewpoint on her character could change and people asking the question whether the character is a role model is something that worries her. "And I don't like answering that question at all because she is a woman who's made big mistakes, and I don't want to think of her as a role model, encouraging kids to make similar violent mistakes," Olsen said.
She added that a thing that concerns her is that the character became someone little kids also loved, but with the latest movie, they are really pushing it. Touching upon her character’s darker side in the latest movie, the actor said that this is why she has trouble answering the question about Wanda being a role model.
Wanda’s story got a whole new leaf in the series WandaVision, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. She can be seen using her powers of mind control to possess the entire town of Westside so that she could live a normal life with Vision. The character’s story and life are explored more in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Directed by Sam Raimi, the movie hit theatres on May 6 and is currently running successfully.
