Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seems to have taken over the internet, with the film dominating online conversation since its new trailer dropped recently. One of the reasons why the trailer became the talk of the town is undoubtedly, the appearance of a Marvel favourite, one whose appearance fans believe could usher in a group of familiar heroes into the MCU.
Any MCU fan who has seen the trailer would have guessed it by now, yes we are indeed talking about Charles Xavier aka Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart. In a blink and you’ll miss it a moment, the trailer features a scene where Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is seen facing someone, with the latter remarking, ‘we should tell him the truth’. Although the person does not appear on camera, the collective internet quickly came to the decision that it was indeed the beloved founder of the X-Men, Professor X himself.
And fans who could not contain their excitement took to Twitter to express some of their rather emotional reactions. Posting screengrabs of the particular scene, fans heralded the return of Charles Xavier.
Some of them even admitted to having gotten a bit emotional over the professor’s cameo, and one called it one of the most shocking moments in a trailer ever, akin to when Doctor Octopus made an appearance in Tom Holland’s recent Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer and movie.
So it suffices to say that the trailer really stoked fans’ expectations, who are talking about how they cannot wait any longer for the film to release.
The upcoming film also includes the return of Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who will reprise their MCU roles. Sam Raimi has directed the upcoming sequel from a script written by Michael Waldron.
