Sri Simha Koduri, the son of music director MM Keeravaani, made a mark with director Ritesh Rana's Mathu Vadhalara and went onto do a rom-com titled Tellavarithe Guruvaram that released just before the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now gearing up for the release of his third film, Dongalunnaru Jaagratha, a survival thriller written and directed by first-time filmmaker Satish Tripura. The film will hit theatres on September 23.
Dongalunnaru Jaagratha is the third collaboration between Suresh Babu (of Suresh Productions) and Sunitha Tati (of Guru Films) after Samantha's Oh Baby and the action comedy Saakini Daakini (starring Regina Cassandra, Nivetha Thomas). The first-of-its-kind thriller is being produced in collaboration with Manzar Studios. Sri Simha's brother Kaala Bhairava is the composer of the film.
The filming of Dongalunnaru Jaagratha was wrapped recently and contrary to reports, the team had always considered it for theatrical release only. The makers claim this is the first survival thriller film in Telugu. In the release date announcement poster, a face has two sides - one with Simha Koduri and the other side features Samuthirakani. Simha sports a look as if he means business while Samuthirakani looks agitated, placing his fingers on his cheek. A car can be seen in the poster too.
When a casual robbery goes horribly wrong, all hell breaks loose and a small-time thief finds himself in a catch-22 situation, having to face many many twists and turns that change his life forever. Preethi Asrani, who made an appearance in Disney+ Hotstar's show 9 Hours, is cast as the female lead. Yeshwanth C is the cinematographer and Garry BH is the editor. Gandhi Nadikudikar is the art director.
