Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling had its highly-anticipated Venice premiere on September 5. With the film shrouded by relentless tabloid attention and controversy over the past few weeks, Wilde and the core cast of Don't Worry Darling reached the Venice Film Festival in hopes of proving their mettle. And much to their delight, the film received a highly encouraging near-five-minute standing ovation at the premiere.

Prior to the showing, stars Olivia Wilde, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan arrived at The Lido (a tiny island in North Italy and home to Venice Film Festival) amid tremendous fanfare and participated in the press conference. Fielding the questions from the media about the film's subject matter, the casting, and the making of it, Wilde and co. were reluctant to answer concerns regarding the ongoing controversy. Speaking of the absence of Florence Pugh's absence from the presser, co-writer and director Olivia Wilde expressed gratitude for the young actress's commitment to the premiere despite being in production in Budapest.

Florence Pugh has been stationed in Budapest for back-to-back shooting schedules of Oppenheimer and Dune: Part Two. Pugh is said to have completed shooting for the Christopher Nolan directorial and is now shooting for Denis Villeneuve's mega sequel in Budapest.

However, the festival audience seemed to care very little about the media furore and controversy around Don't Worry Darling as they showered love over both Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. The former, who arrived late but just in time for the premiere and the red carpet walk, received a hearty welcome at The Lido with Styles attracting a sea of female fandom outside the cinema hall.

For Olivia Wilde, the time spent on directing her only second outing has been nothing but taxing with constant media scrutiny upon her. From her own personal crisis in the form of a separation with long-term partner Jason Sudekis back in 2020 to the more recent Shia LaBeouf and Florence Pugh saga, Wilde has waded a barrage of attacks on social media. However, it would seem that her film's merit has taken the priority with the Venice premiere proving to be a dazzling success. Don't Worry Darling releases in the United States of America on September 23, 2022.
