Goldie Behl has backed the upcoming Zee5 show Duranga. Inspired from a Korean series, the producer feels that it is actually quite similar to Indian culture. He also explains why did he think about bankrolling the show.

Goldie tried to find relevance and context in Indian ethos. “While the Korean culture and Indian culture are very similar but still they have a more sense of loneliness than we have,” the producer feels.

While the original Korean series Flower of Evil spoke directly about their culture, Duranga is deeply rooted in Indian culture. The show is based in central Mumbai.

The producer also points another difference between the show. He speaks about the pace and shares that Duranga is fast-paced and would keep people on the edge constantly.

“The Indian adaptation is far more realistic and so are the performances which our web audiences have started to like and enjoy,” Goldie signs off.

Duranga features Gulshan Devaiah as the male lead. Drashti Dhami plays the female lead on the show. They are seen as Sammit and Ira respectively.

The series is helmed by Pradeep Sarkar. Aijaz Khan has also stepped in to direct a few episodes.

Duranga is a Zee5 original show. It will release on the platform directly on August 19.

Flower of Evil, on the other hand, is available for streaming on Netflix. The South Korean show was the highest-viewed when it released.
