Prithviraj will reportedly have back-to-back OTT releases. After his investigative horror-thriller Cold Case released on Amazon Prime Video on June 30, the Malayalam actor’s next film Kuruthi too will apparently now be a direct-to-OTT release.

A source from the team confirms to OTTplay that the film will be released on a streaming platform. While there are reports that the film is headed to Amazon Prime Video much like Prithviraj’s Cold Case, Kuruthi’s team is yet to confirm this.

When OTTplay reached out to the film’s director Manu Warrier, he neither confirmed nor denied the reports of a direct-to-OTT release of his debut Mollywood directorial, which also has Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko and Srindaa.

Manu however did say that he had watched the film a few months ago. “It’s only after you watch the finished product, you get to see the thrills and all the elements in place. Be it Abhinandan Ramanujan’s visuals or Jakes Bejoy’s music, when you are working on post production, you are usually working on a lower resolution model. When you see the final output is when you realise it has all come together. Personally, I am quite thrilled by the way it has come out and a lot of it is, thanks to Prithvi for making it happen,” says Manu. “You will hear an official update from Prithviraj Productions soon about the film’s status.”

Kuruthi, which is scripted by Anish Palliyal, had wrapped up production quickly. In fact, Prithviraj, who also serves as its co-producer, had said that it was the most intense and fast-paced shooting schedules he has been part of. “Couldn’t be more proud as a producer with what we’ve made, and couldn’t be happier as an actor to be part of a cast that’s delivered some stellar performances,” tweeted Prithviraj, after the film’s shoot in January this year.
