Yashraj Mukhate, who was recently honoured with the Innovation in New Media title at the OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023, has some interesting projects in the pipeline. Known for his remix tracks like Rasode Main Kaun Tha, Pawri Ho Rahi Hai and Twada Kutta Tommy Sada Kutta Kutta, the parody music artiste will soon be releasing his independent full-length music videos, some of which will also include tracks for OTT platforms.

When asked how it felt to win the award, Yashraj said, “It feels great to win the Innovation in New Media award. I usually make my videos in a small room at my house in Aurangabad, sometimes just after waking up from sleep. But today, I am here all dressed up and in full swag. Maza aa raha hai, and it’s a huge trophy! So, I am also thinking about how to fit the award in my bag while travelling back to my city.”

Looking back at his journey, the music content creator said, “Initially, I used to do a lot of covers, but I soon realised that what I liked doing more was to manipulate or play with the sounds. There have been times when I have used a jhadu, jeere ka dabba or plastic ki bottle. Then eventually, I started adding dialogues to my videos just to see how it works. One thing led to the other, and I found out that people liked it when I did that.”

Back in 2020, Yashraj’s Twada Kutta Tommy Sada Kutta Kutta video, in which he mimics Bigg Boss 13 contestant and actress Shehnaaz Gill went viral online. “It so happened that I was watching Bigg Boss on TV, and I heard Shehnaaz speaking in that genuine and natural accent. To me, it felt like the bhangra - something similar to the dhol beats of a scene from Mohabbatein, featuring Shah Rukh Khan. It was kind of the same pitch and rhythm, so when I plugged it to my track, it instantly fit in. In fact, woh track banane mein bohot maza aaya tha,” he elaborated.

So, what’s next? “I am soon coming up with full-length songs - some even for OTT shows. That said, I wouldn’t stop making these short-format videos, because I really enjoy creating them,” he summed up.
