Ranbir Kapoor recently earned the wrath of netizens, after the star came under fire for the way he behaved with his female co-stars during film promotions. After attempts to ‘cancel’ the actor on social media started getting headway, Ranbir’s fans came out in support for the actor, and tweets of ‘We Love Ranbir Kapoor’ started to flood Twitter.
For the uninitiated, Ranbir’s recent comments about Alia Bhatt during the promotions of Brahmastra earned him the ire of fans. In an interview, the actor is heard commenting on Alia’s weight gain, and then passing it off as a joke.
After the clip went viral, many users pointed to instances in the past where Ranbir was seen making ‘indecorous’ remarks against his female co-stars, including Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Several clips featuring Ranbir and Katrina during the promotion of their film, Jagga Jasoos(2017), started to surface online. In the clips, Ranbir is seen interrupting and speaking over Katrina. Videos of Ranbir poking fun at Anushka for her mental health also did not sit well with netizens, who immediately started to make calls to ‘cancel’ the actor.
But some die hard Ranbir fans made sure to come to the actor’s rescue, tweeting ‘We Love Ranbir Kapoor’ and reminding users of the good qualities of the actor. Many users praised the actor for his impeccable acting skills, and shared clips of some of the star’s popular films such as Rockstar and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani as proof. Some users also reminded netizens of Ranbir’s humility, pointing to instances where he accepted his privilege and spoke of trying to get rid of his ‘star kid’ tag through hard work.
Many fans shared moments where other celebrities, like Jim Sarbh, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Anurag Basu and Pritam, also spoke of Ranbir’s good nature.
Ranbir will next be seen in Brahmastra, scheduled for release on September 9.
