Firefly is the maiden feature film production of Niveditha Shivarajkumar, written and directed by Vamshi, who is also the lead in the film

In just over a month, Niveditha Shivarajkumar, the daughter of Century Star Shivarajkumar, will present her debut feature film production, Firefly, in theatres. The film, written and directed by Vamshi, who is also playing the lead in the film, is releasing on April 24, 2025, a special day for the Doddmane, as they and the whole state celebrate the birth anniversary of Kannada matinee idol, Dr Rajkumar .
So far, there is very little that audiences have been privy to about the film. A teaser introduced Vamshi’s character Vivekananda aka Vicky, an award-winning Maths teacher, who despite being surrounded by a bunch of people, some well-meaning and others not so,he is terrribly lonely. How far he goes to beat his loneliness is what the film addresses, or so says the teaser.
As part of the next step in promotions, the team is releasing the first single from the film, a song called In the Night, feauturing Vamshi and Rachana Inder (of Love Mocktail fame ). The full video of the Charan Raj composition will be launched on March 22, 2025. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Sheetal Shetty, Anand Ninasam, Veena Sundar, Chitkala Biradar, and Moogu Suresh in prominent roles.

Shivarajkumar, who has a cameo in the film as a pizza delivery agent, which was revealed in the film’s theatrical teaser, has been quoted as saying that Firefly explores themes of grief and healing, with a narrative that will resonate with everyone. The film’s technical crew includes the likes of Abhilash Kalathi as cinematographer, dialogue writer Raghu Niduvalli, editor Suresh Armugam, art director Varadaraj Kamath, action choreographer Arjun Raj, and dance choreographer Rahul Master, among others.
Firefly is the first feature film under Sri Mutthu Cine Services, a banner that began dabbling with Kannada web series. Niveditha has co-produced 3 series – Honeymoon, By Mistake and Hate U Romeo – before venturing into cinema. Her banner, she maintains will make the kind of movies that she feels comfortable watching as an audience, while Geetha Pictures, which her mother runs, will have the more commercial variety.
