B Loknath is one of the most popular composers in Kannada cinema now and riding high on the success of the first song from Vikrant Rona, Gadang Rakkamma, having gone viral. The composer is also onboard actor Sharan’s next home production, Guru Shishyaru, which is their first collaboration. The film, directed by Jadesha K Hampi, who made Gentleman earlier, is a period subject set in the 90s, in which Sharan plays a physical education teacher at a government school. He is paired with Nishvika Naidu in the film.
The first song from the film is set to be released on June 16, but instead of just a social media post to announce the same, the team put out a fun video featuring Sharan, director-actor Tharun Sudhir, who is creative head on Sharan’s films, Jadesha and Ajaneesh. Filmed as a discussion between the team and Ajaneesh on the kind of song they want him to compose, the video is quite fun to watch, what with the composer all gung-ho about putting together a peppy dance number for Sharan in their maiden collaboration. All of the actor’s films so far have had at least one dance song, like, for instance, the hit number Chuttu Chuttu, or the more recent Hero Honda.
The team then explains how different Guru Shishyaru is from Sharan’s earlier body of work and will see him in a completely different avatar and that the song has to be about the heroine falling in love with his character, while also maintaining a 90s feel is what the announcement promo is all about. It is more fun to watch than read about it, so, do check it out here.
They eventually agree upon a folk theme based number, Aane Maadi Heluteeni, sung by Vijay Prakash and Harshika Devanath, the video of which will be released on June 16 at 5.55 pm.
