Logan Lerman joins Hulu series We Were The Lucky Ones

Logan Lerman, who was last seen in the Brad Pitt film The Bullet Train, has joined Hulu’s upcoming limited series We Were The Lucky Ones. The series which is based on Georgia Hunter’s novel of the same name revolves around a Jewish family that gets separated during the Second World War. The eight-episode limited series will also feature The Act star, Joey King.

Inside Amy Schumer Season 5 to premiere in October

After a six-year hiatus, the sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer is set to return for a fifth season. The first two episodes of the season will premiere on Paramount+ in October with the next three to be released weekly. Announcing the news, actor-comedian Amy Schumer said that she wanted to bring back Inside Amy Schumer “to burn any remaining bridges”. The critically acclaimed show has received two Primetime Emmy Awards.

Bardo, Pinocchio, and She Said to have red carpet premieres at the AFI Fest

The American Film Institute’s film festival AFI Fest has announced the six red carpet premieres for this year. These include Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson’s Pinocchio, Maria Schrader’s She Said, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Bardo, Florian Zeller’s The Son, Oliver Hermanus’s Living, and the documentary Is That Black Enough For You!? from Elvis Mitchell. The fest will open on November 2nd with the world premiere of Apple’s Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me. Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans will close the festival on November 6th.

Kelly Marie Tran to star in and produce biopic on activist Amanda Nguyen

Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor Kelly Marie Tran is attached to star in and produce a biopic on her friend Amanda Nguyen, a civil rights activist. Tran will play Nguyen in the film which will follow her journey from a sexual assault survivor to an activist who proposed the Sexual Assault Survivors' Rights Act. Tang Yi, whose short film All the Crows in the World won the Palme d’Or for best short film at Cannes last year, is in discussions to helm and write the film.

Chloé Zhao to foray into television

Oscar winner Chloé Zhao is making her way into television with a multiple-year, first-look deal with Searchlight Television. The series would mark the Eternals director's second collaboration with Searchlight whose film studio had distributed Zhao’s Oscar-winning film Nomadland.

Comedian Raju Srivastav passes away

Veteran comedian Raju Srivastav passed away at the age of 58 on Wednesday. He was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a cardiac arrest on August 10th. The much-loved comedian gained recognition after participating in the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He has acted in films such as Baazigar, Big Brother, Bombay to Goa and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
