Humayun Saeed joins The Crown cast

Noted Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed has joined the cast of the Netflix period drama series The Crown. Saeed joins as Dr Hasnat Khan, who was a key player in Princess Diana’s inquest, which took place after her death. Khan had officially stated that he was in a relationship with Diana from 1995-1997. He also mentioned that she broke up with him after she met Dodi Fayed during a holiday with Mohammed Al Fayed and his relatives.

Bob Saget passes away aged 65

Comedian and actor Bob Saget was found dead in a Florida hotel room yesterday. Though no information about Saget’s demise has been released yet, police have said they did not find any trace of foul play or drug overdose. Saget was best known for his role as Danny Tanner, the endearing father figure in Full House. 

Sidney Poitier docu greenlit

Apple TV is joining hands with Oprah Winfrey to greenlight a new documentary on late filmmaker Sidney Poitier. The announcement of the docu comes after Poitier’s death at the age of 94, who became the first Black Academy Award winner for Best Actor in 1963 for the film Lilies of the Field. Reggie Hudlin will direct the documentary. 

Ryan Reynold’s The Adam Project release date finalised

The release date of Netflix’s The Adam Project, led by Ryan Reynolds, has been announced as March 11. The film is directed by Shawn Levy, which is about a man travelling back in time to confront his dead father. Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldaña, Catherine Keener, and Alex Mallari also star in the movie. 

Scott Pilgrim anime coming to Netflix

The hit graphic novel Scott Pilgrim is set to be adapted into an anime series for Netflix. Creators Bryan Lee O'Malley and BenDavid Grabinski will serve as executive producers for the series. It was earlier adapted into a critically acclaimed film directed by Edgar Wright, starring Michael Cera, released in 2010. 

Golden Globe Winners 2022

Jane Campion took home the top honours of Best Director and Best Drama for the Benedict Cumberbatch film, The Power of the Dog, while Kodi Smit-McPhee won Best Supporting Actor for the film. 

Will Smith and Nicole Kidman won for dramas for their roles in King Richard and Being the Ricardos respectively. 

Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story bagged Best Musical or Comedy, with its stars Rachel Zegler winning Best Actress for Musical or Comedy, and Ariana DeBose winning Best supporting actress. 

British actor Andrew Garfield was awarded Best Actor in Musical or Comedy for his starring role in Tick, Tick…Boom! 

TV series Succession won the major honours, including Best Drama series, Best Actor for Jeremy Strong, and Best Supporting Actress for Sarah Snook. 

 MJ Rodriguez won Best Actress in a Drama series for Pose, while Squid Game star O Yeong-su overcame stiff competition to win Best Supporting Actor in a series. 

Jason Sudeikis, Nicole Kidman, Michael Keaton, and Jean Smart rounded off the major wins for actors. 

The other winners include Kenneth Branagh for Best Original Screenplay for Belfast, Hans Zimmer for Best Original Score for Dune, and Billie Eilish for Best Original Song in No Time to Die.

Drive My Car and Encanto won best Forgein Film and Animated Film respectively, while The Underground Railroad won Best Mini-series and Hacks with the Best Musical or Comedy series
