Nivin Pauly

Nivin Pauly has confirmed that his upcoming film Thuramukham will have a theatrical release in December. The Rajeev Ravi directorial revolves around the infamous ‘Chappa’ system practiced in Kochi during the 1940s and 50s. The confirmation on the film’s release comes amid rumors of the film having a direct-to-OTT premiere, much like Malik and Marakkar.

Anoop Menon

Anoop Menon and Baiju Santosh’s upcoming film Vidhi: The Verdict will release in theatres on November 25 this year. The film, helmed by Kannan Thamarakkulam, is inspired by the 2020 flat demolitions in Maradu, Kochi. The film also stars Dharmajan Bolghatty, Senthil Krishna, Kailash, and Sheelu Abraham. 

John Wick prequel series The Continental

Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb (best known for The Outsider), and Peter Greene (known for Pulp Fiction) have joined the cast of The Continental, the prequel series to John Wick. The Continental revolves around the assassin’s hotel from the John Wick films. The series will be based in 1975 and will showcase a young Winston Scott as he navigates through the New York underworld and encounters the bigwigs of the criminal circles. 

Applause Entertainment film

Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D' Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy (known for his appearance in Never Have I Ever) have been cast for Applause Entertainment’s yet-untitled romcom. Helmed by ad film-maker Shirsha Guha Thakurta, the film (as described by Sameer Nair, the CEO of Applause Entertainment) “is a sparkling, sophisticated romance that subverts all notions of love and fidelity in modern times.”

Archie, Zoya Akhtar

Bollywood director Zoya Akthar is set to direct an Indian adaptation of Archie comics. The film will be a live-action musical set in the 1960s and will be in collaboration with the streaming giant Netflix.


Tamil director Vasanth S Sai’s highly anticipated film, Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum is all set for direct to OTT release, with Sony Liv bagging the rights. The film is an anthology on the struggles faced by three women played by Parvathy Thiruvothu, Kalieswari Srinivasan, and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli.

Hocus Pocus 2

Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed through her Instagram handle that the sequel to the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus has begun filming. The original film was a fantasy horror-comedy about three witches who are brought back to life after a boy unwittingly lights a black candle.
