Sacha Baron Cohen rumored to play Marvel villain

British actor Sacha Baron Cohen, popular for films such as The Dictator and Borat has been roped in to play the supervillain Marvel Mephisto for the upcoming Disney+ series, Ironheart, according to various reports. The character was rumored to be introduced in several Marvel shows over the last few years but it never materialized . However, it looks likely the highly anticipated introduction of the character could be in 2023 with Sacha Baron Cohen.

Marvel Studios accidentally reveal Emilia Clarke’s character Secret Invasion

Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Disney+ thriller series Secret Invasion features a star-studded ensemble of Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Martin Freeman, Don Cheadle, and Emilia Clarke. While details regarding several characters have been kept under wraps, it appears Marvel may have accidentally revealed facts regarding one of its biggest new stars, Emilia Clarke. Marvel’s official account accidentally uploaded a gif featuring the Game of Thrones star and she was labelled as “its the beginning abigail brand”, all but confirming that Clarke will be playing the character of Abigail Brand. In the comic book lore, the character is a mutant so this could be a hint that Marvel Studios is planning to introduce more characters from the X-Men mythos.

Black Adam star to play the lead role in new series at Prime Video

Aldis Hodge who recently appeared as Carter Hall aka Hawkman in the DC film Black Adam has been cast to play the titular character Alex Cross in the upcoming Prime Video thriller Cross, based on the novels by James Patterson. The plot revolves around Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist who solves dangerous mysteries.

John Cena and Idris Elba will star in the next feature from Ilya Naishuller

John Cena and Idris Elba are set to reunite after their leading roles in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in 2021. They have been added to the cast of Ilya Naishuller’s upcoming feature film. The Russian-born filmmaker helmed the hit action film Nobody last year, starring Bob Odenkirk, and the new film is set to be an action-comedy focusing on a high-stakes situation where two men who dislike each other must work together.

Christian Bale to star in a murder mystery titled The Pale Blue Eye.

Academy Award-winner Christian Bale, who recently starred in the period mystery drama Amsterdam is set to feature in another mystery period drama titled, The Pale Blue Eye. The film will be based on the novel by Louis Bayard and is set in the 19th century. The film revolves around a detective named Augustus Landor, played by Bale, who attempts to solve a series of murders with the help of a young Edgar Allen Poe – who would go on to become the renowned author. Harry Melling has been cast as Poe, who is popular for his role in The Queen’s Gambit, and for essaying the character of Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films. Directed by Scott Cooper, the film also features a star-studded ensemble of Gillian Anderson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Lucy Boynton, Timothy Spall, and Robert Duvall. It is expected to hit theatres this year on the 23rd of December in the US and will be available to stream on Netflix on January 6, 2023.
