SNL to honor Betty White

Betty White’s passing on New Year’s Eve was indeed sad news. Saturday Night Live decided to honour the actress by using an old episode featuring herself. The veteran’s special episode aired on May 8, 2010. White had hosted the episode alongside musician Jay-Z. 

White had appeared on the 35th season for a Mother’s Day special. This episode also featured former cast members Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph, and Molly Shannon. 

Peaky Blinders season 6 trailer drop

The trailer for the upcoming instalment of Peaky Blinders features all favourite actors who’ll be seen reprising their roles in this season. Due to the pandemic, the show’s production had taken a major hit. Now, the show, based on a crime family in Birmingham. The new trailer gives references to the political shakeup of season 5 and highlights the establishment of the Nazi party. Peaky Blinders season 6 is set to premiere next year, but the date is yet to be revealed. There is also no information on the fate of Aunt Poll, played by Helen McCrory, in the trailer after the tragic passing of the actress last year. 

Janet Jackson’s documentary to release on 28 January

Lifetime has unveiled the official trailer of pop icon Janet Jackson’s upcoming documentary, announcing that the first part of the two-part documentary will premiere on January 28. The docu, titled Janet, features archival footage and interviews with noted celebrities like Missy Elliott, Whoopi Goldberg and Mariah Carey, and will lend a peek into Jackson’s personal and professional life. 

Will Arnett replaces Armie Hammer in Taika Waititi directorial Next Goal Wins

It is now confirmed that Armie Hammer is getting replaced by Will Arnett in Taika Waititi’s football comedy titled Next Goal Wins. The actor was supposed to play a football executive in the film, based on a 2014 British documentary about the underdog football team of American Samoa and their journey to getting qualified for the FIFA World Cup.

Hammer has been accused of secxual assault by multiple survivors, after which he exited several high profile projects, including Jennifer Lopez’s Shotgun Wedding and the Paramount Plus show Godfather. 

Mohanlal debuts new look for upcoming film

Malayalam superstar, Mohanlal, has debuted a brand new look for his upcoming 3D fantasy film, Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. His bald look is a far cry from his thick locks from his previous film Marakkar. The new film is directed by Jijo Punnose of My Dear Kuttichathan and he is joined by Santosh Sivan as cinematographer. 

Telugu film Rowdy Boys set for Sankranti release

Sri Venkateswara Creations, the makers of upcoming film Rowdy Boys, have announced via a tweet that the film will be released on Sankranti. It will be a feature film debut for Ashish, with Anupama Parameswaran, Sahidev Vikram, Komalee Prasad, Karthik Rathnam and Tej Kurapati playing important roles. The movie is rumoured to be set in the backdrop of college story and is directed by Sree Harsha Konuganti.
