The antagonist for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse revealed

Spiderman fans were full of praise for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse upon its release which grossed over $375.5 million worldwide against a $90 million budget. Fans are keen for the adventures Miles Morales has in store in the forthcoming Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. The film continues after their whirlwind journey through the multiverse and we’ve not learnt that it will feature a new addition. The film’s director Kemp Powers recently revealed in an interview that The Spot will feature as the main villain in the movie. The Spot was portrayed as a comical villain in the comic books but has the potential to deliver as a formidable adversary to Spiderman. How the webbed superhero takes on this new villain is yet to be seen.

Netflix is set to release a live-action My Hero Academia film

Netflix has received mixed reviews on their anime live-action movies. While Rurouni Kenshin got exemplary reviews, Death note was dismissed by critics and fans alike. But now Netflix is joining hands with Legendary Entertainment for a live-action film adaptation of the popular anime My Hero Academia. Upon its release in 2014, the manga series garnered a strong following and sold a staggering 65 million copies including digital editions. The project is being helmed by Alice in Borderland creator Shinsuke Sato and the script is penned by Obi-Wan Kenobi's Joby Harold. We can’t wait for this one to drop!

Minx season two gets cancelled after the renewal announcement

HBO Max’s erotic comedy Minx was renewed for the second season back in May, following the success of its first season. The production for the series was ongoing with the recurring cast comprising Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano, and Oscar Montoya. But now, new reports claim that the streaming platform will not be going ahead with the second season. HBO Max will also be removing the first season from its platform. The series producer Lionsgate TV is hoping to crack a deal with a different streaming platform to get the series back on track. For fans of the series who just can’t wait for the second season, it’s going to be a waiting game that will eventually pay off.

Netflix is set to produce a K-drama on the popular webtoon Doona

Webtoons are becoming the next big thing, and Netflix has decided to toss its hat in the ring. The streamer has recently announced that they would be producing the K-drama version of the popular Korean Webtoon Doona. The webtoon revolves around a regular college freshman who has a chance encounter with a former K-pop idol named Doona and they strike up a romance. Real-life K-pop star Suzy will portray the titular role of Doona opposite Yang Se-jong who will play the college student. K-drama pioneer Lee Jung-Hyo who is responsible for the success of Crash Landing on You and Romance Is a Bonus Book will helm the project. Now that’s one meetcute we’ll be adding to our watchlist.

RRR bags 2 Golden Globes nominations, Rajamouli thanks jury

SS Rajamouli's blockbuster film RRR has shattered many milestones, winning box office accolades and critical acclaim in equal measure. But now the epic movie is set to make history as it has been nominated for not one, but two Golden Globes Awards. The film is nominated for the Best Picture non-English language category and the Best Original Song category for Naatu Naatu. The news was shared by Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) on their official Twitter page. SS Rajamouli thanked the jury of HFPA for recognising the movie as a worthy candidate for the Golden Globes. We have our fingers crossed for this one.

Rukmini Vasanth joins the cast of the Kannada film Bageera

Rukmini Vasanth is the latest addition to the Kannada film Bageera. She made her onscreen debut in 2019 and this project is her third big budget project. She will be joined by Rakshit Shetty who featured with her in Saptha Saagaradache Ello and Ganesh who shared the screen with her in Banadariyalli. Sriimurali will be seen portraying a rugged cop in this film.
