Andy Serkis' production company to develop TV adaptation of The Wicker Man

Fifty years after the release of Robin Hardy’s iconic horror film The Wicker Man, acclaimed actor and director Andy Serkis has acquired the rights for the TV adaptation of the film. Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish’s production company The Imaginarium will develop the new project. Howard Overman, the creator of the award-winning series Misfits, will pen the screenplay. Without divulging more details, Overman said the series will be different from the original film but will “explore the same themes of sacrifice, superstition and ritual that were at its core.”

Sydney Sweeney to star in film adaptation of The Caretaker

Euphoria and The White Lotus star Sydney Sweeney will headline the film adaptation of Marcus Kliewer’s short story The Caretaker. Sweeney will also executive produce the project which will be distributed by Universal. The plot revolves around a young woman who accepts a caretaker position, only to realize that the job was not what she ever imagined it to be. Meanwhile, Sweeney will also star and serve as executive producer for the upcoming remake of the science-fiction film Barbarella.

Documentary on Dungeons & Dragons in the making

A documentary feature about the popular roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons is in the making. Hasbro‘s Entertainment One is developing the project which will be released on the occasion of the game’s 50th anniversary in 2024. The documentary will explore the game’s creation in the early 1970s and will delve into the famous wizards and elves. Meanwhile, a major Dungeons & Dragons film titled Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set to release in March 2023.

Mani Ratnam and Rajinikanth to reunite three decades after Thalapathi

If you are a fan of ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam and superstar Thalaivar Rajinikanth, then we have good news for you. Ratnam is set to reunite with the megastar after three decades for a film. As per reports, Lyca Productions, the makers of the Rajinikanth film Darbar, is planning to rope in Ratnam for their next project with the Style Manan. Ratnam and Rajinikanth last worked together on Thalapathi. At the time of its release in November 1991, the film was the most expensive South Indian film ever made and featured a host of actors including Mammootty, Arvind Swamy, Shobana, and Amrish Puri.

Kantara outperforms Ponniyin Selvan I, Godfather on day 12

The latest Kannada film Kantara is not only garnering rave reviews but is also scoring big at the box office. The film has grossed ₹58 crores in Karnataka alone, while its worldwide collection stands at ₹80+ crore. Moreover, on Tuesday, the film outperformed Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: I and Chiranjeevi's Godfather in terms of national collections. While Kantara earned ₹5 crores, Ponniyin Selvan: I and Godfather managed to collect ₹4 crores and ₹2 crores, respectively, on Tuesday. Kantara is directed by Rishabh Shetty and will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam on October 14th.

Tovino Thomas shares announcement teaser of Ajayante Randam Moshanam

Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas who rose to stardom after playing the titular superhero in Minnal Murali shared an announcement teaser of his highly anticipated film Ajayante Randam Moshanam. The film directed by Jithin Lal promises to be a visual treat. Tovino will play three characters Ajayan, Maniyan, and Kunjikkelu in the film which is being made in 3D, and the story is set in 20th-century Kerala. Krithi Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Surabhi Lakshmi will play the female leads. The film will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English.
