The Penguin TV show to serve as a prequel to The Batman sequel

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of DC films and TV shows, The Batman universe helmed by Matt Reeves is going ahead with its previously announced project. Reeves confirmed that the new Penguin TV series, starring Golden Globe-winner Colin Farrell, will tie in with the sequel to The Batman. The sequel is expected for 2025 release, and Reeves stated in an interview with Collider that he is currently working on a script for the sequel. Information regarding which infamous villains from Batman’s ‘rogues gallery’ will feature as the primary antagonists are yet to be revealed.

Multiple Golden Globe-winning Abbott Elementary renewed

ABC Network’s Abbott Elementary became the first network comedy to win best comedy series at the Golden Globes in nine years since Brooklyn Nine-Nine won in 2013. The series also won best actress and best supporting actor for Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams respectively. ABC has renewed Abbott Elementary for a third season and you can stream the first two seasons on Disney+ Hotstar in India.

William H. Macy cast in Planet of the Apes film

Veteran Hollywood star William H. Macy has joined the cast of the new Planet of the Apes film. Titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the film will be set several years after the events of the critically acclaimed film War For the Planet of the Apes. Wes Ball, popular for helming The Maze Runner franchise, will take over the reins of the new film from Matt Reeves. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will also star Owen Teague and The Witcher alum Freya Allen.

Flamin' Hot helmed by Eva Longoria sets release date

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria previously announced that she will be making her directorial debut. It has now been confirmed that her film Flamin’ Hot is set to release on June 9. It will be a biopic about a janitor at Frito-Lay named Richard Montañez, the man who would invent the Flamin Hot Cheetos. Jesse Garcia will essay the lead role in the film as Montañez.

Six Triple Eight adds Kerry Washington and Oprah Winfrey to its cast

Django Unchained and Scandal star Kerry Washington will join Oprah Winfrey in the cast of Tyler Perry's upcoming film Six Triple Eight. The story is based on the all-Black-female battalion during World War II. The Netflix original film will focus on the lines of communication during the war and the people responsible for handling up to 17 million mail. Breaking Bad star Dean Norris is also part of the cast along with veterans Sam Waterston and Susan Sarandon. Netflix is yet to announce a release date for the film.

90s cult classic White Men Can’t Jump is set for a 2023 release

A remake of the 1992 cult classic sports comedy film White Men Can't Jump was announced last year. The director of the film Calmatic has confirmed that the film is expected to release sometime this year, despite the lack of promotional images and teasers. The roles previously played by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes will be essayed by Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls. The film follows the lives of two grifters who use their basketball skills to extort money from unsuspecting targets.
