Gangubai Kathiawadi preview: All you need to know about Alia Bhatt’s biographical crime drama film

Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a part of S. Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai.’ The actress will be portraying the titular role in the film. The news about the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial film has been making rounds on the internet for a long time.

What is Gangubai Kathiawadi about?

The film is about one of the most influential women in history, who was once young and helpless, while later she grows up to rule over Kamathipura in Mumbai.

With direction, Bhansali is also one of the music directors of the film alongside Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara, while the filmmaker is backing the project with Jayantilal Gada as well. Apart from Alia, Gangubai Kathiawadi also features Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa in crucial roles. The biographical film stars Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in cameo roles.

According to a report on Filmfare.com, the actress will be seen performing Garba for two of the songs in the film. Kruti Mahesh, the choreographer of the song, spoke to the portal about the forthcoming songs and said that Garba has different forms and flavours as people move into different areas of Gujarat. Furthermore, she revealed, “Like what we did with Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi was a different take on Garba with a Kathiawadi essence. It’s different from what you see people doing in Mumbai.”
