Salman Khan is all set to make his debut in the Telugu film industry with Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Godfather, which will be directed by Mohan Raja. During a press conference for an awards ceremony, Salman shared the news about his cameo in Chiranjeevi’s film, his opinion about the Telugu film industry and what makes Tollywood movies such a hit across the country.
According to ETimes, Salman stated that he knew ‘Chiru garu’ for a very long time and it was a good experience working with him. “He and his son are both my good friends. Ram Charan has done fantastic work in 'RRR', I just wished him on his birthday and for the success of his film. I am very proud of him and I feel good when these guys succeed and their films do well.”
He also added that while Telugu films do extraordinarily well in other states, Hindi films barely do well down south. Salman shared his interpretation of Telugu cinema and the reason behind its success in pan India.
The Dabangg actor said south Indian films tell stories that make larger-than-life heroes. “But with our films, some people say that it’s cliched and we need to be realistic. Main toh vaisi hi larger than life hero wali filmein karta hoon," said the 56-year-old superstar.
He also drew a similarity between the Telugu cinema and films of the famous duo, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, who once created unforgettable, larger-than-life matinee idols. Praising the writers and directors from the south, he added, “Eventually, that format comes from Salim Javed's brand of cinema, but the South films have taken it to the next level.”
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is working on his upcoming titles like Kick 2 and Tiger 3.
