Guilty Pleasures: Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale proves that Kajol-Shah Rukh Khan's chemistry is evergreen

The 2015 action-comedy film Dilwale was a major comeback of Kajol, especially opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The announcement of the film certainly made me believe that it was going to be a parody of the iconic 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and a total flop as well. However, thankfully, I was completely wrong!

Kajol and Shah Rukh’s jodi is indubitably one of the best onscreen couples around the globe. But what else makes Rohit Shetty’s 2015 directorial a watch worthy for me? Dilwale has some of THE hilarious scenes that make me laugh every time I watch it. Not a fan of Varun Dhawan’s “funny” dialogues in the film but Pankaj Tripathi and Mukesh Tiwari’s great combo certainly make you laugh. As I start the film, I wait for the scene, where both of them cook up a fake story about Kajol and Shah Rukh becoming enemies. 

Though, the film begins with an intense scene where King Khan gets shot by someone, while in the next, he suddenly wakes up from his nightmare. However, the film doesn't take much time to unveil that it’s not a thriller but a comedy. Another chemistry that is likeable is between the superstar and Varun as brothers. While the young actor and Kriti Sanon’s jodi is also not bad at all.

If we talk about the story, then it certainly takes its own sweet time to reveal a few blasts from the past, which intrigued me at the first watch because I wanted to know what exactly happened between this dynamic duo (Kajol-Shah Rukh) that set them apart.

As a big Shah Rukh and Kajol fan, I go and watch two scenes from the film over and over again. The phenomenal actress certainly gives the badass antagonist goals when she reveals her actual identity to our handsome hero. Meanwhile, another thing that is kind of a mandate in a “Rohit Shetty film” is the action sequence. While being an action-junkie, I liked most of the flying cars and fighting scenes in this movie. However, the leading duo’s car drift scene on a sling road tops my list of favourites from Dilwale. It’s thrilling, full action and romantic too.

Now, as a big Bollywood fan, I love the films with happy endings and Dilwale gives it to the audience, where all the love birds get united and then live “happily ever after.”
