The team of Venkat Prabhu's political thriller Maanaadu, starring Silambarasan in the lead, surprised movie buffs and industry insiders by announcing that the film will hit the screens on Deepavali. Siva's Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatthe was the first project to have announced a release date on the festive day.

Fans have been taking to Twitter of late to enquire about the movie's trailer to its makers. A few days ago, Venkat had hinted that the much-awaited trailer will be out soon on the day the makers of Ajith's Valimai released a video. On the other day, Silambarasan himself took to social media to post a picture of himself from his dubbing session and informed that the film's trailer will be unveiled soon.

On Monday, the producer of Maanaadu, Suresh Kamatchi, said that there will be an update on the movie's trailer after 3pm. The star's fans were delighted to know that the makers will unveil the trailer on October 2. It is said that an announcement will be made later on the time at which the video will be released. The shooting of the movie was wrapped up a few months ago and Silambarasan had gifted expensive watches to Venkat Prabhu and action choreographer Silva among others.

The teaser of Maanaadu, which was released earlier this year in different languages, was appreciated by critics and movie buffs, thanks to some of the intriguing shots, concept of time travel and Silambarasan's screen presence. The lyric video of the song Meherezylaa was also unveiled a few months ago, which had soul-stirring composition by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Kalyani Priyadarshan is playing the female lead in Maanaadu. SJ Suryah will be essaying a cop's role in the film which has Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekhar, Premgi Amaren, Karunakaran, Manoj Bharathiraja and Anjena Kirti among others playing pivotal roles.
