Mohanlal’s upcoming crime-thriller Monster, which has the actor playing the role of an investigator named Lucky Singh, might be a small film compared to his usual standards, but it does have a powerful cast.

While Telugu actress Lakshmi Manchu will be making her Mollywood debut with the movie, scripted by Udaykrishna, the thriller also has Honey Rose and Sudev Nair as part of the cast. Honey had last acted with Mohanlal in Siddique’s thriller Big Brother, which had Arbaaz Khan playing the villain.

Honey, Sudev and Lakshmi had wrapped up one schedule of the movie in November and are expected to join the team soon for the rest of the shoot. Mohanlal in an earlier interview with OTTplay had said that the film follows a format that isn’t seen much in Malayalam and has a second half filled with a lot of unexpected twists.

The team had released two different posters from the film – one which had Mohanlal reloading his gun and another of his character Lucky striking a dancing pose. Last month, the superstar had also told us that the makers are yet to take a call on the film’s release platform. “We will decide whether to release it on OTTs or cinema halls based on the situation of theatres,” he said.

Considering that cases due to the Omicron variant rising and leading to lockdowns across the country, the makers could be urged to release Monster on OTTs too as previously discussed. The actor’s Bro Daddy, which is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, and 12th Man, which is helmed by Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph, will release directly on OTT platforms.

Meanwhile, Sudev Nair is also part of a big release with Mammootty in the lead, Amal Neerad’s Bheeshma Parvam. The actor plays Rajan in the gangster thriller set in the 1980s. Bheeshma Parvam is set to release on February 24 in theatres.
