Darlings marks Alia Bhatt's first film as a producer. The trailer of the dark-comedy movie, which stars Bhatt alongside Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew, is released today.

Fans are praising the social message that is being showcased in the film as the actresses can be seen standing up against domestic violence, as well as the netizens are loving the unusual mother-daughter duo played by both the actresses.

During the trailer launch event, the mommy-to-be unveiled how she decided to become a producer in a few minutes of conversation with the writer-director of the movie.

Alia explained, "Darlings came to me and when the narration started, I thought to see where it's taking me. Because I had no idea about the story of the film and when I met with Jasmeet (director) and Gaurav (co-producer) back in 2019 I was really busy with my shooting schedules but I still chose to listen to all the scripts that came my way. The story of Darlings started normally and suddenly it shifted gears and got very interesting. I got really surprised and I get surprised rarely. So I decided to do it and it very naturally came out that I want to be a producer on this as well. And Gaurav at that moment was really supportive and said that it's a fantastic idea, we must do it together."

Meanwhile, Alia also unveiled how King Khan became a part of the production and added, "After that Shah Rukh called me and he said that 'I usually don't co-produce but I'll do it with you and we'll have a lot of fun.'"

She further mentioned that SRK has recently watched the film and he said in a typical Darlings lingo, "Thanks you Darlings for doing this movies."

Backed by Alia, Shah Rukh, Gauri Khan and Gaurav Varma, the dark-comedy film is all set to stream on Netflix from August 5.
