Alphonse Puthren, who made heads turn with Premam, shared the lyrical video of Porkanda Singam from Vikram, on his social media page. One of the fans asked the Malayalam filmmaker if there was a chance to revive the project he was to make with Rajinikanth—for which the former replied—he'd love to direct both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth on a film.
Alphonse Puthren's post read, "Scripts I have for Rajini and Kamal sir might be of interest to them (if I meet them in person.) I believe that luck has never taken me into account. Thus, I have never met them in my life. Hopefully someday, if luck favours me; I will meet them, and they like my scripts. In addition to doing entertaining films with each of them, I will also make good films with both of them."
Notably, both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have been friends for a long time, despite their varied interests in politics.
The director’s response is doing the rounds on social media. It is no secret that Alphonse Puthren is a huge admirer of Kamal Haasan. In 2017, he posted on Facebook saying Ulaganayagan should be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, for a day, just like how it happened in Shankar's Mudhalvan.
There is no doubt that Kamal Haasan knows who Alphonse Puthren is. Haasan was asked by the latter to conduct a "masterclass" on Michael Madhana Kama Rajan (MMKR), often regarded as one of the best comedies in Tamil cinema. Upon Puthran's request, Haasan took to social media to provide behind-the-scenes stories from Singeetam Srinivasa Rao's film.
On the work front, Alphonse Puthren is awaiting the release of Gold. The film features Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara, in lead roles. Chemban Vinod Jose, Shammi Thilakan and Roshan Mathew form the rest of the supporting cast. Gold is bankrolled by Supriya Menon, under the banner of Prithviraj Productions; along with Listin Stephen's Magic Frames.
Alphonse Puthren's debut film was Neram, which featured Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim, in key roles.
