IND vs AUS, 2nd Test: Again a Test game ends on Day 3, but India win it by 6 wickets. India retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy!

India began with a bang with Ravindra Jadeja taking a seven-fer and R Ashwin taking three wickets. India in fact came in to bat before the lunch break. India in the chase of 115 runs, lost two wickets - KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.

On Day 2, India was saved by Axar Patel and R Ashwin as the Men in Blue were all out for 262. They gave the Australians a one-run advantage at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.

In order to aid India's recovery, Axar hit 74 runs and R Ashwin added 37 runs. Nathan Lyon, an off-spinner, claimed his 22nd five-wicket haul, while Matthew Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy also took wickets.

Earlier, Australia scored 263 with Mohammed Shami (4/60) along with R Ashwin (3/68) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/68) taking all the needed wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja also got his 250th Test wicket and the all-rounder becomes the fastest Indian and second fastest in world cricket to 250 Test wickets and 2500 Test runs. 

R Ashwin did not just get his 700th First Class wicket but also scalped his 100th Test wicket vs Australia.

    Cheteshwar Pujara smashed a FOUR and with that the 2nd Test comes to an end. 

    India retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well.

    After hitting a SIX in the previous over, Shreyas Iyer was eager to go for the big shots. He danced down to repeat that six over deep mid-wicket but this time, Lyon pushed his ball quicker and Iyer was caught on the boundary ropes.

    Kohli danced out to smother but Murphy persisted with the arm ball. It skid past the outside edge and Carey took the bails off in a flash.

    IND vs AUS: WICKET - Rohit Sharma's fine knock comes to an end

    1 run completed and a terrible misunderstanding between Rohit and Pujara saw the skipper sacrificing himself. Surely a waste of a wicket as the captain was in good form.

    Rohit had nudged the ball in front of square on the on-side and took the first run. He then turned back for the second, so did Pujara and he kept running. However, Rohit for some reason stopped mid-way. In the meantime, Hanscomb lobbed the ball to Carey, who did the rest.

    IND vs AUS: WICKET - KL Rahul goes for 1

    KL Rahul's luck is surely not on his side. KL struck the ball sweetly, straight off FSL's shins. The ball lobbed up in the air and it was a dolly for the keeper. 

    He makes a slow walk back to the pavilion. Will this be the last time fans see him in the whites for a while? This will be answered during the 3rd Test.

    IND vs AUS: WICKET - Jadeja gets 7 wickets, Australia all out for 113

    Jadeja is all smiles as he has finished the innings with a seven-fer. Kuhnemann was his last victim as the batter tried to go for a reverse-sweep and dragged it back on off the glove. The ball kissed the glove and went on to destroy the stumps.

    Aussies trying the sweep shot and Jadeja getting them bowled - this has been the story on Day 3. A fifer for Jadeja as he sends back Carey for 7.

    Carey had already decided he would play the reverse-sweep but misses the ball and it pitches and goes over the bat and knocks out leg-stump.

    It was just drinks break and Pat Cummins just came to the crease. However, he did not even last long as he was bowled and sent back on the very first ball.

    Cummins tried a slogsweep to a straight delivery but the ball keeps low, skids and crashes into the stumps.

    After ending Day 2 on a high, Day 3 is not going in favour of the Aussies. Handscomb came in to bat and soon was sent back by Jadeja. Handscomb got forward to drive but the turn takes the outside-edge and Kohli takes a nice catch to slip.

    IND vs AUS: WICKET - R Ashwin again gets the better of Steve Smith

    The game between Smith and Ashwin continues and the Indian bolwer yet again sends back the Aussie batter. Smith had premeditated a sweep, but misses the ball and it rapped on the pads. Umpires gave OUT, but Smith went for the review.

    The impact is in line and and Gough's decision proved correct. Smith puts his head back and closes his eyes in disappointment.

    The dangerous Travis Head goes in the 1st over of Day 3. The opening batter had come in on Day 2 with intent and started smashing the ball. However, this time, R Ashwin made Head come forward to defend and the ball pitches short of the bat. Srikar Bharat takes hold of the ball and flips the bails.

    IND vs AUS: Day 2 Stumps - Australia lead by 62 runs

    Stumps: Day 2 saw India slipped from 46 for 0 to 66 for 4 and then from 125 for 4 to 139 for 7. Axar- Ashwin made sure to revive India with their 8th wicket partnership adding 114 runs. India's 262 was just 1 run shy of Australia's 263. 

    Coming in to field, India struck early by dismissing Usman Khawaja, however, Travis Head, who was promoted to the top of the order, made a fluent unbeaten 39 having stretched their overall lead to 62 runs.

    What a catch by Handscomb at short-leg. The ball flicked from the meat of the bat and Handscomb gets lucky as it hits him on the arm and then rolls down on to his right leg. He uses his presence of mind and clutches it on to his body.

    The one-handed stunner from KL Rahul saw Khawaja be in absolute disbelief. The batter shaped for the reverse sweep and nailed it towards point, however, he was not ready for the screamer from KL. 

    KL Rahul dived across full length to his right and got the ball one-handed and held on to it even as he fell onto the ground.

    First Labuschagne and then Steve Smith, R Ashwin struck twice in the over. 

    For Labuschagne, Ashwin was very convinced and nudged his captain to review. UltraEdge confirms no bat and ball-tracking shows the ball crashing into the middle-stump and umpire Nitin Menon has to change his original call once again. This gave Ashwin his 700th First Class wicket
