It's been a year since Indian Matchmaking started streaming on Netflix. Based on matchmaker Sima Taparia, travels across the globe and meets unlucky in love single people who opted for an arranged marriage. Indian Matchmaking became a trending topic instantly for several reasons be it showing regressive mentality or several tongue-in-cheek moments as it is a reality show. However, this did not affect the popularity of the show at all.

The docuseries Indian Matchmaking has now been nominated for the 73rd Emmy Awards announced recently in the Unstructured Reality Program category.

Sharing her happiness, Sima said in a statement, "We couldn’t have asked for a better gift to celebrate one year of the show. Working with Netflix was a great experience and I’m looking forward to continuing this thrilling association."

The suitors featured on the show are Aparna Shewakramani, Pradhyuman Maloo, Nadia Christina Jagessar, Vyasar Ganesan, Akshay Jakhete, Ankita Bansal, Shekar Jayaraman, Jay Wadhwani and Rashi Gupta.

The premise of the series is explained as the single millennials who have decided it’s time to revisit methods from the past and look to the experts to find their right partner. For the same, elite matchmaker Sima Taparia learns about her clients with precision from interests and ambitions to in-depth astrological readings. She guides them towards their perfect match. From Houston, Chicago to Mumbai, these singles go on the fun as well as awkward first dates. Not just alone, they often go with their family in tow to discover whether these good-on-paper matches can turn into a love that lasts a lifetime.'
