Gifted actress Nimrat Kaur made a splash in the Hindi film industry and among cinephiles and the critics with her impressive turns in the critically well-received dramas, The Lunchbox and Airlift. Recently, she wrapped her shoot for the upcoming social-comedy Dasvi. The 39-year-old actress broke the news on her Instagram handle on Saturday evening, with a candid, smiling picture from the film’s set. She looks her charming self in an ethnic suit for the part of Bimla Devi Choudhary. Nimrat attached a heartfelt note on her experience of shooting for the film, expressing her satisfaction with the shoot for the past 10 months, which has eventually reached a ‘joyous culmination.’ The film marks the directorial debut of Tushar Jalota. Ritesh Shah noted for Pink and Batla house, has written the script for Dasvi. Although her character is kept under wraps, Nimrat plays Bimla Devi Choudhary, who is a politician. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam as the lead cast alongside her. Their roles in Dasvi aren’t revealed yet either.
Tagging along with the entire cast and crew of Dasvi, she expressed her gratitude for pulling off the shoot in such unprecedented times.The post read that the occasions are rare when ‘unforgettable roles’ in an actor’s career meets ‘unexplored places’, but with Bimla’s aka Bimmo’s character, she was fortunate to have her heart and acting bug full with the two aspects rolled into one perfect match. She went on to add that she already misses her character from the film, which she finds to be ‘the happiest, most thrilling and fun place’ that a character took her to and allowed her to live onscreen.
Back in February, Abhishek Bachchan took to Instagram to share the first look of his character Ganga Ram Chaudhary from the film, writing in his caption: "Meet Ganga Ram Chaudhary. Dasvi shoot begins." He can be seen in a rustic look with a swagger in the poster.Shortly after, Yami Gautam had taken to her Instagram handle to share her first look, donning a Khakee uniform, which can be guessed as her playing a cop in the film. She plays Jyoti Deswal in the film.After Yami, Nimrat shared her first look, where she could be seen clad in a saree and showing a ‘Victory’ sign to the camera.
Dasvi is produced by the hit horror-comedy Stree fame Dinesh Vijan and Sandeep Leyzell and Shobhana Yadav.
The film is presented by Jio Studios and Vijan’s Maddock Films and an update about the release date is awaited.
