We're nearly seven months away from the big day for Vijay Deverakonda and his fans across the globe - August 25, the day when the star will officially make his Bollywood debut and have his first pan-Indian release across five languages. Puri Jagannadh is helming the much-awaited sports drama that is bringing Mike Tyson to Indian cinema for the first time and also features prominent actors like Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy in key roles. The filming of Liger is now complete, the team officially announced on Sunday.
"THE ACTION👊 & THE MADNESS🤙🏻on sets comes to an end🎬 Team #LIGER wrapped up the entire shoot & Buckling up to unleash the Beast on AUG 25th 2022🔥," the makers, Dharma Productions and Puri Connects, wrote in their social media handles, releasing a poster with a boxing ring surrounded by scores of people. The director Puri Jagannadh too added, "We've just completed shooting for Liger, it's time to say Jana Gana Mana."
It's quite clear that the filmmaker (with Jana Gana Mana) was hinting at his next collaboration with Vijay Deverakonda and Jahnvi Kapoor, whose shoot is expected to commence shortly (and also finish before Liger releases). Jana Gana Mana has been Puri Jagannadh's pet project for long and was to star Mahesh Babu initially though it didn't materialise later.
Meanwhile, the Liger glimpse released on December 31, 2021 offered a sneak-peek into the MMA fight sequences that the film has in store for audiences besides portraying the struggles of ‘Slum Dog Of Streets Of Mumbai’ and ‘The Chai Wala’. Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta together are bankrolling the film. Vishnu Sarma has cranked the camera, while Kecha is the stunt director. Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey and Getup Srinu too essay important roles in Liger. Jonny Shaik Basha is the art director with Junaid Siddiqui handling the edits.
