It's official: Ajith, Vignesh Shivan to join hands for AK 62; Anirudh Ravichander to compose music

Ajith's next, AK 61, is yet to go on floors, but fans of the Valimai star are already pumped up for AK 62 as an official announcement has been made on it. For the last few days, there have been unconfirmed reports doing the rounds that Vignesh Shivan will be directing the untitled movie.

Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling the project, has now issued a release in which they have confirmed the news. Though Nayanthara's name has also surfaced with regard to playing the female lead in the film, there is no confirmation on the same. Anirudh has been brought on board to compose music for the movie.

The excited composer took to Twitter to express his happiness. He tweeted, "Excited to score for AK sir again in #AK62. A @VigneshShivN directorial will always be a musical special (sic)." This will be Anirudh's third project with Ajith after Vedalam and Vivegam.

Vignesh, too, was elated about directing Ajith for the first time and said that it is a dream come true for him. He thanked the star for the opportunity and posted a picture of himself with Ajith which was clicked during the shooting of Yennai Arindhaal, seven years ago. 

According to the production house, the untitled film is being planned as a theatrical release by mid next year. Meanwhile, an official announcement on the cast and crew of AK 61 is yet to be made. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor are teaming up with Ajith for the third time for the yet to be titled film which will commence its shooting in Hyderabad.

Aditi Rao Hydari and Kavin are already said to be on board to play crucial roles in the movie which is likely to have Ghibran on board as its music composer.
