Jayeshbhai Jordaar: Ranveer Singh reveals Deepika Padukone’s ‘brutally honest’ reaction to his role in the movie

Jayeshbhai Jordaar: Ranveer Singh reveals Deepika Padukone’s ‘brutally honest’ reaction to his role in the movie

Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar has piqued the intrigue of the fans with its trailer. The audience are excited even more to see the actor in a never-seen-before avatar. The actor has now revealed how wife and star Deepika Padukone reacted to his character in the movie. 

Talking in an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor said that he respects and takes into heart the opinions of his wife, Deepika and that after watching the trailer of Jayeshbhai Jordaar, she said something that was told to him after his performance in Kabir Khan directorial ’83. 

The actor said that Deepika is a brutally honest person and that she never lies to him, and because it comes from somebody he loves, compliments “hit different”.

“She was like, ‘Man, I don’t think I’ve seen this in… What you’re doing is quite unprecedented, because you are bonafide mainstream, yet you are able to, time after time, create distinctive characters,” said Ranveer. 

He revealed that his wife also said that she does not know any other reference point of a mainstream actor who can turn into distinct characters, yet stay in the mainstream cinema. She also said that when one sees his characters, they cannot see actually him and that this is unprecedented. Ranveer revealed that this is something she told him after watching him as Kapil in ’83 as well. 

Ranveer has played some distinct and memorable characters in his film career such as Alaudin Khilji in Padmaavat, Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s film, and Murad in Gully Boy. Fans expect his role in Jayeshbhai Jordaar to be added to this list, following its release. 

Written and directed by Divyang Thakkar, the comedy-drama will see Ranveer play a man who is fighting to protect his unborn child against the many faces of society. Also starring Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah, the movie will hit theatres on May 13.
