JugJugg Jeeyo has landed in trouble ahead of its theatrical release on June 24. The movie has a copyright infringement case against it. The latest update is that JugJugg Jeeyo will be screened in Ranchi court ahead of its release.

A writer named Vishal Singh filed the case, claiming that Karan Johar’s film has been extracted from his original script, Bunny Rani. He shared screenshots on Twitter and claimed that he had mailed the script to Karan’s Dharma Productions in February 2020 and the team ended up using his script without giving him any due credit. The film was also made without his knowledge, Vishal claimed. He called the same ‘chori chakaari’ through his Twitter handle.

The writer has demanded Rs. 1.5 crores as compensation for not including him in the movie-making process and leaving out his credits from the film.

Judge M C Jha will take the case forward through a hearing in Ranchi court. He will decide whether the film violates the copyright act or not.

There is still no official statement from Karan or his team at Dharma. The date for the hearing is also to be announced yet.

JugJugg Jeeyo is a quirky comedy family-drama directed by Raj Mehta. The movie stars Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor in the lead roles. Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli play pivotal roles in the film too.

The makers are scheduling the release of their film, JugJugg Jeeyo on June 24. However, more will depend on the judgement passed after the case hearing in Ranchi court.
