Jyotika and Suriya
Speculations are abuzz that Jyotika is likely to come on board for Suriya 41 (tentatively titled), directed by Bala. If this comes true, Jyotika and Suriya will be seen together in a movie, after 16 years. The husband-wife duo have acted in Sillunu Oru Kadhal, June R, Perazhagan, Uyirile kalandhadhu, Poovellam Kettupar, Kaakha Kaakha, and Maayavi.
Rumours also suggest that Suriya will play a dual role (could be a father and a son), and one of them is likely to be a deaf and mute character. However, we await an official confirmation. Further, we hear that Jyotika, if roped in, could be seen as the pair of the elderly version of Suriya's character.
A report published by the Times of India says that Bala was planning this project with Arya and Atharvaa, in the lead roles. Since both of them were occupied with film commitments, the script went to Suriya. The yet-to-be-titled film, which has music by GV Prakash, is produced by Suriya's home banner, 2D Entertainment, However, there has been no official word on the film's plot line or genre.
OTTplay had reported that Suriya completed the first schedule of the shooting in Kanyakumari. The team is expected to begin the second schedule in June, in Goa. Suriya 41 already has the Telugu actor Krithi Shetty and Malayalam actor Mamitha Baiju, as a part of the cast.
Suriya, whose latest film was Etharkkum Thunindhavan (streaming on Sun Next) also has Vetrimaaran's Vaadivaasal, in his kitty. Besides, the actor, once again, teamed up with Sudha Kongara, after the success of Soorarai Pottru.
Suriya 41, touted to be a rural entertainer, marks the third feature film collaboration between Bala and Suriya, following Nandha and Pithamagan (2003). Suriya also made a special appearance in Bala's Avan Ivan. On the other hand, Bala had directed Jyotika in Naachiyaar.
Suriya last played a dual role in KV Anand's Maattrraan.
